Discussion Draft of the North Shore Redevelopment Master Plan
On January 14, 2010, 6:00 p.m. the City of Escanaba Planning Commission will be discussing the draft North Shore Master Plan. The meeting will be held at City Hall, 410 Ludington Street, Escanaba, Michigan.Escanaba Northshore Master Plan

The Escanaba waterfront was identified throughout the community master plan process as an underutilized resource, which could be converted into a dynamic mixed-use redevelopment area. The properties along the north shore of Little Bay De Noc are viewed by the City of Escanaba to hold great potential to generate year-round activity with linkages to surrounding neighborhoods, downtown amenities, labor, regional access, and the recreational and scenic attributes of the waterfront location. This project involves the preparation of a land use master plan for the City of Escanaba.
Manager's Call
In an effort to keep the residents of Escanaba better informed of what is happening in the City, the City Manager conducts weekly forums to disseminate information and answer any questions the public may have. Citizen's are cordially invited to attend this worthwhile informational session.

Citizen 2008 Survey Results.
In January 2008, the City of Escanaba mailed surveys to 1314 City of Escanaba residents seeking their input on the delivery of services, future
development of the City and general community feelings and attitude. The overall response was 42.5 percent (559 completed surveys were returned).
With the numbers of surveys returned, we expect the sample to accurately represent the opinions of the population of the City of Escanaba.
The motivation for this study was to gather opinions of residents about the future direction of the City of Escanaba. The survey serves as a key component of the public participation portion of the Master Plan for the City of Escanaba.

Recycling - Best Practices.
The cost of solid waste disposal is a major municipal expense, and these costs have been increasing over the past decade. Recycling saves money by reducing the amount of waste to dispose of, and this recycling also generates income from the sales of recyclables. This kind of savings is know as "avoided costs". Why Recycle? Because it saves money, reduces waste, reuses valuable resources and maintains clean neighborhoods. Learn more about Escanaba's Recycling Program here.
The primary purpose of the Escanaba Energy Supply Project (EESP) is to develop a future electric supply plan to provide reliable and economic electric power to all customers of Escanaba Electric Department. Establishing a plan for long-term competitive and stable electric costs for existing and future commercial and industrial activity in the City in an environmentally acceptable manner is a cornerstone of the plan development effort. The planning process has been ongoing since 2002.
Escanaba Community Master Plan
This Master Plan is the result of extensive data collection and analysis providing a method to address each critical issue in the City of Escanaba. Community input has played a critical role in the formation of this plan. Community involvement ensures that the finalized plan represents the needs and demands of the people who are affected most, the residents. Through intensive collection of resident views and opinions, key issues have been identified and are addressed throughout the chapters of this plan. These key issues are the guiding principles in determining the themes and objectives. They uphold the decisions which will be supported by the plan throughout its implementation.
