K-9 UNITS
Public Safety has 45 employees and one of those has 4 legs, sharp teeth, and lots of fur. No, it's not Officer Maycunich. It's actually his K-9 companion, ROBBIE. Department of Public Safety Canines have traveled extensively throughout the Upper Peninsula assisting other Departments and are required to be certified annually.
ROBBIE
Robbie, a Belgian Malinois, began serving the City of Escanaba in June of 2008. PSO Marc Maycunich and Robbie completed an extensive 5-week training at the Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana.
Robbie is a bomb dog, is proficient in tracking, and handler protection. He is eager to serve the community as a K-9 Officer.
