Before you can excercise your right to vote in any election, you must become a registered voter. Voter registration is an easy process described below.

The City Clerk's Office encourages everyone to excercise their right to vote! Particiapte in our electoral process ---- register and attend the polls on election day!

Voter Registration

To register to vote you must be . . .

a United States citizen
at least 18 years of age by election day
a resident of Michigan and the City or Township where you are applying to register to vote

City Clerk's Office
County Clerk's Office
Secretary of State Offices
Department of State Offices
Family Independence Agency
Any agency providing public assistance or services for person with disabilities
Register by mail (Persons registering to vote by mail are required to vote in person the first time they vote, unless they are members of the military, overseas, handicapped, or a senior citizen)


To be eligable to vote, you must registered at least 30 days prior to any election in Michigan. This gives your local clerk time to process the voter registration forms and to send your Voter Identification Card.

Whenever you move to a new City or Township, you must re-register to vote.

If you move within a City or Township, you must update your address. This can be accomplished through your local City Clerk, at your polling place on election day, at a Secretary of State branch office, or by mail.
