Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - The kids were finishing work on the tiles.
|Weeks 9 & 10: November 10th and 17th - The kids continued to paint their designs onto the ceiling tiles. A very pleased Mark Ammel came for a visit on the 10th to review the painted tiles.
Week 8: Thursday, November 3, 2011 - The kids transferred their designs to tile using a newspaper transfer, then they started painting their designs. More painting will be done in the November 10th session.
|Week 7: The kids finished paper transfers of their artwork to be transferred to the tiles next week.
Teen Scene team October 20th
The kids spent time making a mock-up map of Bobaloon’s ceiling to be presented to Mark Ammel of Bobaloons
|A special session was held at the Bonifas on Wednesday, October 19th, after school hours. A crew of Teen Scene participants met at the Bonifas to apply primer to Bobaloon’s ceiling tiles.
Teen Scene has been brainstorming and working individually on their ideas for art work for Bobaloon’s ceiling tiles.
Week 1: The kids met with their instructor, Eddie Moritz, at the Escanaba Middle School in Scott Dykema’s classroom, aka, the art room. For their community project they will be focusing on painting the ceiling tiles at Bobaloons. They enjoyed their kickoff snack while they brainstormed ideas to present to Mark Ammel, Bobaloon’s proprietor.
Week 2: After dividing the kids into groups, they started their research in the school’s computer lab. Working as a group, they will be mocking up a design to take back to Bobaloons.
Week 3: Time to go to Bobaloons! Group representatives met with Mark and presented some of their ideas. Mark discussed changes and or additions with them.

Open Studio linking students & artists
Dates: Thursdays, September 15, 22, 29, October 6, 13, 20, 27, November 3, 10 & 17; from 2:30 – 4 PM (10 wks); for Grades 5 – 7
Teen Scene is an after-school program that provides studio space and materials to middle school students as they learn to work as a creative team to produce public art for Bobaloons, a local downtown business. This program will start off in the Escanaba Middle School art room. Students will work at Bobaloons as the project proceeds.
Led by local artist, Eddie Moritz, students will work closely with Bobaloons to create customized artwork that reflects the client’s style and message. Students will complete studies in simple, traditional mediums like graphite, pastel, charcoal, collage and/or watercolor to develop samples. Min 4 / Max 18
