Karen Moore

Term: November 11, 2019, to Nov. 2023

Karen Moore was elected to the Escanaba City Council in November of 2019. She is a graduate of Holy Name High School and Ferris State University with a degree in Dental Hygiene. After a 25- year career in that field, she went on to pursue a career in design. She currently designs floral arrangements, home interiors, and gardens. She has been a Certified Master Gardener for 15 years with an emphasis in garden design. Her passion for flowers and plants has influenced the many commercial and home gardens she has designed in the Escanaba area. She is president of the Delta County Master Gardener Association and has initiated many beautification and educational projects.

She recently founded ENHANCE ESCANABA, a nonprofit corporation with a focus on historical preservation and beautification to continue making Escanaba an even more beautiful place to live and visit.

After being appointed to the Escanaba Recreation Board, she was elected chairperson and served for many years helping to improve Escanaba’s recreation facilities and expand other recreational opportunities.

As a city council member, the number one request she heard from voters is condo construction. Karen’s focus has been to make Escanaba more attractive to developers for condos. She feels the need to keep our senior citizens here by developing suitable housing choices. Job creation is also her focused priority for all ages. Another priority is to promote tourism by enhancing and developing the wonderful qualities our city has to offer.

Karen is the parent of adult twin boys. She served as PTO president, Boy Scout leader, and Eskymo Fan Club fundraiser while they were growing up.

She serves as a member of the church council at St. Anne Parish.
